Feature
| Description
Simplified installation
| The new installer was designed to make installation simple and clear. Remote installation is integrated into Acronis Management Server. It now allows for component installation into a number of machines in parallel.
Improved usability
| It is now even easier to backup and restore. Simply connect to a management server, select the machines you want to backup from a browsing tree, and backup either whole machines or items from those machines.
For restoration, just navigate to a vault and select the item you want to restore. The software will automatically map the selected partitions to the target disk in the optimal manner.
Management Console will automatically check for updates upon each start and will notify you if a newer build is available on web site. License management is now integrated into Management Server. It is not necessary to install License Server as a separate component.
Catalog and search
| There is now a centralized catalog for managed vaults. With this catalog you can search for items by attributes. You can also get all versions of the item you are looking for and the locations it could be recovered from.
Backups replication
| Move or copy backups to a cheaper or off-site storage automatically. There is a replication time window which can be used to indicate when you don’t want your backups to be replicated (i.e. business hours).
Multi-destination
| Store backup in multiple locations (possibly off-site) for redundancy
Better tape support
| No dependency on Windows Removable Storage Manager. Manage tape media directly from the product’s UI.
Improved autoloaders support, ability to utilize more than one tape drive for parallel backups.
Alert Notifications
| A new alert system has been introduced for both local and centralized management. Now, it is possible to configure alerts you want to receive and to configure e-mail notifications about different types of alerts.
Acronis Management Server web page for components installation
| A web server component is installed together with Acronis Management Server. The AMS web page can be used to download and install Acronis components.
UEFI/GPT support
| There is support for backing up and restoring UEFI systems and GPT disks. There is also support for restoring BIOS systems onto UEFI systems.
4K drives support
| Support of external disks with 4K logical sectors
Defining partition alignment on restore
| Some drives, i.e. Solid State Drives (SSD), require alignment (specifically 64K) for optimal performance. Alignment can be specified when configuring the restore task.
Linux LVM support
| LVM structure is saved in a backup and can be recovered during the restore.
Hardware snapshots support
| Allows for hardware snapshots if the hardware has such capability.
Better deduplication
| Improved deduplication performance. Block-level deduplication for file backups allows to improve storage ratios.
Universal restore for Linux systems
| Restore Linux systems to dissimilar hardware.
Restore OS bootability with Universal Restore
| Apply Universal Restore to patch OS without performing an actual recovery.
Disaster Recovery Plan
| Generate disaster recovery plan and send it via e-mail right after backup creation. The plan will contain a step-by-step instruction on how to recover.
Import/Export of backup plans
| Export backup plans into .xml file and import on another machine.
Vault permissions
| Ability to specify user rights for centralized managed vaults.
New command line
| Is designed to provide backup and recovery automation, includes remote management
Convert backup to full
| Ability to convert an incremental or differential backup into a full one in order to make the backups chain more reliable.
Virtualization:Feature
| Description
Incremental Instant Restore
| Incrementally apply changes to a standby virtual machine rather than restore entire VM.
Windows Agent for VMware vSphere
| Now a Windows version of Agent for backing up vSphere VMs is available. It allows to offload ESX server and omit ESX server LAN when performing backups to a dedicated storage server.
Simultaneous backups of several VMs
| ESX and Hyper-V VMs could now be backed up in parallel rather than one-by-one.
LAN-free backup to disks attached directly to Acronis Virtual Appliance
| Attach virtual disks of any storage device supported by ESX server directly to Acronis Virtual Appliance and do backups directly omitting LAN.
One agent handling multiple ESX servers
| Now you can configure one ESX agent (Virtual Appliance or Windows Agent for vSphere) to control multiple ESX hosts.
Hyper-V clustered VM support
| Now it is possible to backup and restore Hyper-V clustered virtual machines.
Support for cluster shared volumes
| Gives ability to backup and restore Hyper-V VMs residing on Windows 2008 R2 Cluster Shared Volumes.
