Install of XP ,2k3 ISO to HDD (NO RamDisk)

Hello my chinese friends,

i have been trying very hard to find the answer , and tried

NTBOOT
0PE
RUN by Sratif
F6IMG by HOTDLL

to achieve ISO Install of Windows XP to Internal HDD , only the TextMod is successful without using map --mem

but the second part (gui ) does not work , and give error :setup.exe could not be started .

i tried both firadisk , Winvblock ,. latest versions . but all have same problem .

and i tried both VM and Real machine , but it does not work at second part without using map --mem.

if i use map --mem /WIN$.ISO

it works OK.

but not with

map /WIN$.ISO


is there any solution , or does it due to grub4dos or winvblock ?

Hi maanu,

sorry, I have never seen this error, and could I know which media you boot from? such as fbinst, cdrom, usb-hdd, usb-cdrom, or what?

maybe you can try the method below,

1, use this firadisk.img FIRADISK.zip (80.08 KB, 下载次数: 69)

2, use the latest version RUN, and try the command below

    RUN --fira iso=/xp.iso   OR    RUN --mem --fira iso=/xp.iso

3, after the textmod, u can unplug the boot-media and the gui installation will continue

i already tried that , on real system . 1st boot (textmode ) successfull  , second boot from hdd, i get

ASMS Error ,setup.exe not found ,or paramter incorrect ,

same error on Chenall's NTBOOT all options,

i use fbinst made usb , with 2012-01-01 grub4dos version.

i already tried --mem switch and it is successful , but with --fira iso=/xp.iso  , it gives same error on 2nd boot .

ASMS error , paramter is incorrect,


Any ideas ?

maybe u need to use the 2011-12-30 grub4dos, the 2012-01-01 grub4dos is only for test, it`s not suitable for use as a normal version.

and, where is the xp.iso? in ud device or on hdd?

btw, where did u get the xp.iso, is it the original msdn version? or it`s a simplified version made by any other people?

grub4dos 0.4.6a 2012-01-01 is in ALPHA stage. it is mainly for test purpose. please do not use it for your critical applications.

ok i ll try with grub4dos 2012-30-12 version .
xp iso is on root of usb drive.

i use customized xp iso , means not official.

u can try to place the xp.iso on the hdd, and use the official version, maybe helpful.

actually when i tried your FIRADISK.IMG using your latest RUN file and i was using server 2003 SP2 EN iso file (both on usb or hdd) ,it gave me BSOD 0X7B .

when i tried the following ,it did not give me BSOD on same iso . but when i format partition , it gave error

firadisk.sys could not be copied ,make sure cd is in cdrom and bla bla bla.

and it gave me same error on remaining files.

will you please study the IMA file i attached ?

it is made by CDOB . which uses IMDISK cmd file to search for the file and mount the iso at setup .

the above method worked OK on windows xp sp3 , both official iso and non official iso.

将XP.ISO放到U盘上，而MAP时没有用--mem参数，安装XP出错我想比较正常，因为FIRADISK或者说XP的安装程序，并不认得USB盘——如果XP.ISO放在硬盘上能够正常安装的话，就可证实这个猜想了。不过如果电脑内存在1GB以上，还是加--mem参数比较稳当——我昨天就用map --mem+WINVBLOCK安装了WIN2003 X64系统。另外我在这里再次推荐下大家使用WINVBLOCK而少用FIRADISK，因为我的实践告诉我，WINVBLOCK的兼容性或者说成功率，要好得多。

i have just tried to install the win servr 2003 sp2 en by using RUN in vmware,

with the firadisk.img on cd and the iso file on hdd, and it works fine, no BSOD

maybe i have to say sorry, the ima file u attached is a little difficult for me,

i have a lot of command do not understand about the dos batch script
